The United Methodist Church in Tarkio hosted its annual Chili/Soup Cook-Off and Cinnamon Roll/Sticky Bun Throwdown Sunday evening, February 11, 2018. The chili contest was no sweat for teenager Megan Lee, whose chili was named the best of the best. Coming in 2nd place with a tie were Brooke Walton and Will Johnson. Delicious soups declared winners

Rollin’ in the dough

Participants in the Chili/Soup Cook-Off and Cinnamon Roll/Sticky Bun Throw-Down enjoyed another successful event at the United Methodist Church in Tarkio on Sunday evening, February 11, 2018. Over 40 people cast ballots for their favorite chili, soup and cinnamon roll in the fellowship hall of the church located at 201 North Sixth Street in Tarkio.
When all was said and done, first, second and third place winners were announced at the end of the evening in three categories. Cinnamon roll/sticky bun winners follow: First Place – Deb Beckman (with Kenna Levings’ recipe); Second Place – Deb Beckman; and Third Place – Brooke Lee. Soup category winners are: First Place – Becky Jones; Second Place – Diane Hicks; and Third Place – Teresa Shaw. The chili category hosted several winners as there were ties in two of the places as follows: First Place – Megan Lee; Tie for Second Place – Brooke Walton and Will Johnson; and Tie for Third Place – Rachel Graves and the Deb Beckman/Kim Herrick team. Commenting on the evening’s event, Will Johnson said, “Now I know how the Canadians felt in the Olympic snowboarding competition by getting beat by a 17 year-old!”
