Atchison County sends 4 relays and 10 individual events

Briacin Bywater took 2nd in the 300 hurdles with a time of 42.62. He also qualified for State in the 110 hurdles with a time of 16.62.

Gage McAdams was sectional champion in the pole vault, clearing the bar at 14 feet.

Gage McAdams also qualified in the high jump with a jump of 6 feet.

East Atchison’s 4×800 meter relay took 4th place, advancing on to state with a time of 10:46.12. Members include Grace Martin, Tawni Martin, Brynnan Poppa, Mercedes Parshall.

Allison Yates had a vault of 8 feet, placing 4th and is advancing on to state track.

Madison Ohrt had a throw of 108 feet and 4 inches in the javelin, placing 4th and qualifying for state.

East Atchison’s Jake McEnaney qualified in the 1600 meter run placing 4th with a time of 4:49.60.

Rock Port’s 4×400 meter relay took first with a time of 4:14.75. Members include Rachel Vogler, Riley Vogler, Makenna Farmer, and Abbie Hale.

Rock Port’s 4×200 meter relay team became sectional champions with a time of 1:49.83. Members include Marisa Carder, Riley Vogler, Makenna Farmer, and Abbie Hale.

Rock Port’s 4×100 meter relay took 4th place with a time of 52.88. Members include Marisa Carder, Rachel Vogler, Makenna Farmer, and Abbie Hale.

Dalton Stevens took 4th place in the discus, qualifying for state with a throw of 124 feet and 9 inches.

Abbie Hale qualified for state in the 300 hurdles, placing 2nd with a time of 47.22.

East Atchison (EA) and Rock Port (RP) traveled to Lathrop, Mo. for the Class 1 Sectional 4 track and field meet. There were 19 local athletes competing in 17 events. The top four places advance to state track. At the end of the day they advanced 13 events on to State Track in Jefferson City on May 18 and 19.
For EA boys, Gage McAdams placed first in the pole vault with a 14’ vault, and fourth in the high jump with a jump of 6’. Briacin Bywater qualified in both hurdles placing second in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 42.62 and fourth in the 110 meter high hurdles with a time of 16.62. Jake McEnaney qualified in the 1600 meter run, placing fourth with a time of 4:49.60. Jake just missed qualifying in the 800 meter run, placing fifth with a time of 2:12.41.
For the EA girls Kaely Kirwan placed second in the pole vault, vaulting 8’6” and Allison Yates placed fourth, vaulting 8’. Madison Ohrt had a throw of 108’4” to place fourth in the javelin. In running, EA’s 4×800 meter relay team (Grace Martin, Tawni Martin, Brynnan Poppa, and Mercedes Parshall) placed fourth with a time of 10:46.12.
For RP boys Dalton Stevens placed fourth in the discus with a throw of 124’9”. Joey Herron placed fifth with a time of 12.19, missing by four-one-hundredths of a second.
For the RP girls the 4×200 meter relay team (Abbie Hale, Marisa Carder, Riley Vogler, and Makenna Farmer) placed first with a personal record time of 1:49.83. The 4×400 meter relay team (Abbie Hale, Riley Vogler, Makenna Farmer, and Rachel Vogler) also had a personal record, placing first with a time of 4:14.75. The 4×100 meter relay team (Abbie Hale, Makenna Farmer, Rachel Vogler, and Marisa Carder) advanced to state with a fourth place finish with a personal best time of 52.88. Abbie Hale placed second in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 47.22. Makenna Farmer just missed qualifying for state in the open 400 meter run, placing fifth with a time of 1:04.27. Alivia Baucom missed qualifying for state in the shot put, placing eighth with a throw of 30’1”.
