Rock Port’s 4 x100 meter relay placed 4th with a time of 52.43 and set a new school record by 100th of a second. Members are Megan Stevens, Cortney LaHue, Abbie Hale and Jackie Bradley.
East Atchison and Rock Port traveled to Jefferson City to compete in the state track meet held at Jefferson City High School, on Friday, May 19, and Saturday, May 20.
Despite the weather forecast both days were good days for the competitors.
First onto medal stand was Alex Baucom (RP) in the shot put. With a throw of 37’ 10.25” Alex placed second.
Megan Stevens (RP) made the finals in the 100 m hurdles and was seated in eighth going into the finals and finished second overall with a 15.76. Megan backed that up with a new school record in the 300 m hurdles placing second with a time of 47.19.
Dayle Davis (RP) took part in the first official javelin throw for the State of Missouri in high school. Dayle had a throw of 115’ 9” to place third overall.
Gage McAdams (EA) defended his title for the Class 1 Pole Vault with a vault of 14’ 3”. Gage also qualified in the High Jump and the 200 meter dash but didn’t make the finals in either.
Briacin Bywater (EA), a freshman, qualified for the finals in the 110 m high hurdles and finished 8th in a time of 17.17.
Rock Port 4 x 100 m relay who was on the bubble, made the finals and finished fourth overall with a new school record of 52.43. Members were Megan Stevens, Cortney LaHue, Abbie Hale and Jackie Bradley.
Grace Martin (EA) ran well but missed making the finals in the 400m dash.
Kaely Kirwan (EA) qualified in the pole vault finishing 12th overall with a vault of 8’.
East Atchison 4 x 400 m relay ran on Friday to try to qualify for the finals on Saturday, missing by three places with a time of 4.25.88. Team members are Alyssa Garrison, Tawni Martin, Jaycee Graves, and Grace Martin.

Gage McAdams was feeling more relaxed this year as he vaulted 14’3” to take first place.

Dayle Davis will always have the distinction of being in the first ever javelin throw for the Missouri State High School Athletic Association. Dayle placed third.
