Fairfax FFA Chapter holds annual banquet

The Fairfax FFA Chapter held its annual banquet Thursday, May 11, 2017. President Dakota Allen welcomed all in attendance following opening ceremonies by the 2016-17 FFA Officers. Chaplain Conner Marshall gave the invocation and then everyone enjoyed a dinner, as well as a slideshow created by FFA Reporters Leslie Bradley and Tacy Mitchell.
The 2016-17 scrapbook dedication recipient was Superintendent Dr. Michael Garrett.
FFA Greenhands were presented their Greenhand Degree. Recipients included: Trey Agnew, Shelbey Morris, Wyatt Burke, Trey Bowling, Ben Bowling, Kilea Cooper, Jaycee Graves, Jesse Graves, Gavin Knapp, and Dillan Palmer. FFA Creed Speaker was Shelbey Morris.
Jaycee Graves was named the FFA Star Greenhand.
Chapter FFA Degrees were presented to Tyler Brown, Max Hopkins, Zach Garrison, and Jordan Sutter.
Max Hopkins was named the Star Chapter Farmer. Jordan Sutter received the Star Agribusiness Award.
Leadership Awards were presented to: freshmen – Ben Bowling, Kilea Cooper, Jaycee Graves, Jesse Graves, and Shelbey Morris; sophomores – Tyler Brown, Zachary Garrison, Max Hopkins, and Jordan Sutter; juniors – Mickayla Bowling, Leslie Bradley, Conner Marshall, and Tacy Mitchell; and seniors – Dakota Allen, Alyssa Beck, Alyssa Garrison, and Mason Straub.
Scholarship Awards were presented to freshman Jaycee Graves, sophomore Zach Garrison, junior Leslie Bradley, and senior Alyssa Garrison.
The Blue Jacket Award, sponsored by Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Fields, Joni Fields and Cy Fields, was presented to Tacy Mitchell.
Top fruit salesperson for the year was Shane Wallace.
Career Development Event participants were recognized by Advisor Palmer. Dairy Foods placed 5th at Districts. Leslie Bradley was 2nd high individual. Mickayla Bowling was 21st high individual. Tacy Mitchell was 41st high individual. Conner Marshall was 60th high individual. The Dairy Foods team placed 26th in the group 2 team rating at State. Tacy Mitchell placed 51st in the individual group 2 rating. Leslie Bradley placed 104th in the individual group 2 rating. Mickayla Bowling placed 108th in the individual group 2 rating. Conner Marshall placed 140th in the individual group 3 rating. The Horses Team placed 19th at Districts. Team members included Alyssa Beck, Jonathan Brown, and Trey Agnew. The Agronomy team placed 23rd at Districts. Team members included Max Hopkins, Tyler Brown, Zach Garrison, and Jordan Sutter. The Floriculture team placed 29th at Districts. Team members included Shelbey Morris, Alyssa Garrison, Kinley Thornhill, and Chaos Powers.
Leadership Development Events participants were recognized. The FFA Knowledge Team placed 13th at Districts. Team members included Shelbey Morris, Jaycee Graves, Wyatt Burke, and Jesse Graves.
Shelbey Morris competed in the Area Creed Speaking.
In Advanced Public Speaking, Mickayla Bowling placed 3rd in the Fall Public Speaking – MIC – and was a District qualifier.
Dakota Allen competed in Advanced Public Speaking in the Fall Public Speaking – Farm Bureau – and was a District qualifier with his 1st place in Public Speaking.
In the Fall Public Speaking, Conner Marshall placed 4th in the Area.
Dillan Palmer competed in the Area Job Interview competition.
Placing 2nd in the Area in Chapter Scrapbook were Tacy Mitchell and Leslie Bradley.
Max Hopkins, Dakota Allen, and Conner Marshall preformed in the State Choir.
Dakota Allen received a State Degree and was named a State Officer.
Being recognized for the State Convention Courtesy Corps were Jaycee Graves, Jesse Graves, Ben Bowling, Kilea Cooper, and Shelbey Morris.
Jesse Graves and Kilea Cooper were recognized for being State Delegates.
Honorary Degree recipients included Doug and Angela Garrison, Mrs. Tammy Brown, Justin and Alicia Straub, Zachary and Elizabeth Allen, Marshal and Michelle Oswald, Johnny and Cara Davis, and Mr. Paul Edwards.
Retiring President Dakota Allen gave his address and then new officers were installed.

Dakota Allen was recognized for being named a State FFA Vice-President.
