For the last 20 years the Rock Port sixth grade has been raising money for the Ralph Greer American Legion Post #49 and the Atchison County Memorial Building. This last year the legion were able to put that money to good use and replaced the two flag poles in front of the Memorial Building. In honor of the dedication of the 6th graders who have helped over the year the Legion held a dedication ceremony on Monday, May 7, 2018, and invited the sixth grade class. Member Jim Giddinge welcomed the class, Commander Bud Harger gave a few opening remarks and Vice Commander Mary Kahn closed with a brief speech and asked the class to join in the Pledge of Allegiance. The class was treated to cookies and drinks as a thank you for their hard work and dedication.
