The newly organized Friendship Day Fair in Tarkio is gearing up to be a huge, fun-filled event for all ages beginning at 4 p.m. Saturday, September 8, at the Tarkio Ball Field. Now under the direction of the Tarkio Parks and Recreation Department, the event has been reorganized to cater to everyone, from tiny tots to seniors. Also, to kick off the event, the Tarkio Parks and Rec are partnering with the Flower Mill in Tarkio, who will hand out three free carnations (limited supply of 500 free carnations) Friday morning, 7 a.m., September 7. Keep one and give the other two away or give them all away to those whose friendships keep you going strong.

On Saturday at the ballpark (starting at 4 p.m.), the kiddos can enter the event with the purchase of $5 wrist bands for all-you-can-play games. The fun includes a bucket brigade, a dunk tank, facepainting, prizes, a slide, batting cage, photo booth, bounce house, car smash, and ping pong ball prizes dropped from an airplane. The Disney movie “CoCo” will be shown at dusk.

While the youngsters are running from game to game, the adults can check out a huge selection of vendors: Tastefully Simple, Thirty-One gifts, Mosher’s Goodies & More, Mary Kay Cosmetics, Steinman Woodworks, Usborne Books & More, Beautiful Boutique, Julie’s Junktique, LuLaRoe, It Works!, Scentsy, Younique, Senegence, Norwex, Isagenix, Kannaway, Tupperware, Color Street, Pampered Chef, Hilltop Hobbies, Young Living – Essential Oils, and Paparazzi Jewelry. For food, Hy-Vee Food Court – Sids’ Snacks will provide food, and there will also be snocones, popcorn, hot dogs, and cotton candy available.

Tarkio Parks and Rec is excited to get Friendship Day in Tarkio started up again and hope to keep this event going every year. This would not have been possible without numerous donations and sponsorships that have poured in from local businesses and citizens. The city appreciates the support to make this event a success.

Parts of 3rd Street (next to the ballfield) will be blocked off for the event. Those attending may park in the gravel lot adjacent to the pool or in the Community Building parking lot. Parking will also be available south of the ball field, but this section of parking will only be accessible from the south (take the gravel road 205th Street south of Tarkio; the road eventually turns into 3rd street and you will see available parking near the field).
