Gary William Hargus, 62, Maryville, Missouri, formerly of Fairfax, Missouri, passed away Friday, June 29, 2018, at the Fox Group Home in Maryville.
Gary was born in Maryville, Missouri, March 21, 1956, the son of Earl William and Mary Katie (Thacker) Hargus. He lived at home in Fairfax until August 2005, when he moved into the Fox Group Home in Maryville. He graduated from Fairfax High School in 1976. Gary had been employed by Northwest Missouri Industries, Rock Port, Missouri, and at NOCOMO in Maryville. He was member of the Tarkio Baptist Church.
Gary enjoyed many things: his birthday being at the top of the list, collecting football and baseball cards, watching football, listening to country music, going to the movies and bowling with his friends on a weekly basis, and family activities during the various holidays, reunions, and birthdays!
He will be fondly remembered for his loving attitude, warm smile, and sincere hugs!
Gary was preceded in death by his parents and special friend, Judy.
He is survived by sisters: Merylan (Darryl) Lowrey, Tarkio, Missouri, and Patricia (Thomas) Cundall, Fairfax, Missouri; nieces and nephews: Twilla (Kevin) Clark, Tarkio, Missouri, Tracy (Athen) Jones, Maryville, Missouri, Trudy (Ron) Baker, Fairfax, Missouri, Chad (Theresa) Bacon, Shenandoah, Iowa, and Brad (Gidget) Hammers, College Springs, Iowa; great-nieces and nephews: Lauren Clark, Michael Baker, Katy Baker, Evan Jones, Averie Jones, Paige Bacon, Trevor Bacon, Kyle Bacon, Misty Hammers, Jacob Hammers, Hugo Cruz, and Roberto Cruz. There are four great-great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held at the Price Funeral Home, Maryville, Missouri, on Monday, July 2, 2018. Graveside funeral service and burial was held Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at the Tarkio Home Cemetery, Tarkio, Missouri, Reverend Glenn Scott officiating. Memorials may be directed to the Fox Group Home or SSM Hospice, Maryville.
