Jean Schooler

Jean Schooler, 97, passed away at home in Fairfax, Missouri, on April 8, 2018.
She was born August 17, 1920, to Thomas and Elva (Hankins) Walker. She graduated from Nishnabotna High School in 1939 and attended Grand Island Business College, Grand Island, Nebraska.
For five years she was employed by New York Life Insurance Company, Omaha, Nebraska.
On May 18, 1946, she was married to A. Wayne Schooler at First Lutheran Church, Rock Port, Missouri. They made their home on a farm east of Fairfax, living there their entire married life.
Following Wayne’s death in 2004 Jean moved to Fairfax in 2005. She remained in Fairfax until moving to a nursing home in Mound City in the fall of 2017.
Jean was a member of the United Methodist Church, Fairfax, and the 49’ers Hobby Club.
Jean was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed talking care of her home, garden, and flowers. Much like her own mother, Jean was a wonderful cook.
Surviving are her two daughters, Ann Cothern and her husband, Ray, of Chillicothe, and Jane Hausman and her husband, Mark, of St. Joseph; seven grandchildren; 12 great-children; one brother, Dick Walker and his wife Bobbie, of Hawaii.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Wayne, her parents, and her brother, Bill Walker.
Services were held Thursday, April 12, 2018, at the United Methodist Church in Fairfax, officiated by Rev. Andrew Sanders. Interment was at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Fairfax.
Memorials may be directed to the United Methodist Church, Fairfax, or Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Fairfax.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Schooler Funeral Home in Fairfax/Craig.
