Dear Editor,

Dear Rock Port Business Owners and Community Members: Despite the snow, it’s time to think spring, and baseball! For the third year in a row Lynn and I have obtained a block of tickets for Pleasant View Nursing Home residents to attend a Kansas City Royals game. As of today, the Royals are leading the league in the spring training standings at 2-0. Hey, you’re saying there’s a chance!

Adequate time has to be allowed for Pleasant View to plan for care center staffing, vehicles, drivers, and attendants, so tickets have to be ordered well in advance of the game date. This year, the Pleasant View group will be attending the June 6, 12:15 p.m. game vs. the 2018 World Series Champion Boston Red Sox. Family and friends wishing to also attend the game should order their tickets near Section 243, Row PP.

Now we’re looking for other individuals and businesses to help sponsor this fun event for area seniors. Each ticket costs $34, so can we count on you to pay for one, two, or even four tickets? If we raise more money than necessary, those funds will be given to the Pleasant View Activities Fund for another outing.

We’ll do a follow-up story in the Atchison County Mail, covering who attended and who our ticket sponsors were. We may even give the score, but only if the Royals win.

Join me, with other Rock Port businesses, in sponsoring this fun outing for residents of Pleasant View.

Sincerely, Eric Chamberlain

(Make your check payable to Eric Chamberlain with “Royals Tickets” on the memo line. Mail to me at 17475 Hwy. 136, Rock Port. Thank you very much!)
