Piecemakers Quilt Guild by Jean Mensen

Piecemakers Quilt Guild met June 6, 2017, at Fairfax City Park with a picnic to kick off our new year. The food was great!
Roll call was answered with “Our most memorable wedding gift” – and for some of us we had to think back a little.
We exchanged fat quarters and Sara handed out our last two block of the month patterns: Cedars of Lebanon and Greek Cross. It will be interesting to see how each one sets their blocks together.
Karen gave the treasurer’s report and Jean read the secretary’s report.
We had election of officers, set up our schedule for hostesses and our schedule for programs for the year. We have a list of interesting programs so it should be a year of renewing basics and learning new techniques.
We discussed our fundraising project for the year ahead. Susan had some good suggestions for a Christmas quilt project.
We had Show and Tell. Susan had a quilt with anchors mixed into each row that she had made for her daughter. Donna had a jelly roll quilt. Just cutting a block in different ways or turning a block different ways gives a completely different look to a quilt. Both quilts were very nice.
The next meeting will be July 11, at Community Hospital-Fairfax at 7 p.m. Come and start the new quilt year with us!
