The TEC Club met Tuesday afternoon, January 9, 2018, at Aunt Martha’s B & B in Fairfax, Missouri, to begin the new year. I knew excitement was in the air as soon as I opened the door. The hostess had missed a step and fallen at her home while trying to carry a pan of apple butter bundt cakes and various other snacks to the car. She managed to get to Martha’s, but then her knee and leg began to swell and she couldn’t walk. Martha’s B&B had a wheel chair in the basement so Suzanne Southard managed to wrangle the contraption up the steep steps and our hostess was now mobile.
The games proceeded. I was the lucky winner of the big money. Norma Bradfield and Sharon Smith tied for second high and since dividing seventy-five cents is impossible, the hostess, who by this time was in considerable pain, donated her fifty cents since she won low and was eager to proceed to the emergency room. Such sacrifice!
You can see how dedicated we are to this game. It’s not whether you win or lose, it’s how you play the game. I heard that somewhere! At this report we do not know what damage was done to her knee until Dr. Bredthauer examines the damage. Join us in wishing her well. I didn’t give her name because you never want anyone to see you fall or hear about it either. But I have to report the news.
