This year Nash Schomburg had a big smile for Santa.
The Rock Port Chamber Christmas Celebration had several vendors signed up, so the chances of winning a door prize were good. The event was held on Saturday, December 2 at the Atchison County Memorial Building.
Marlene Demott of Rock Port was the winner of the Chamber Gift Basket Give Away. The contents included gift certificates from Ella&Grey, Groovy’s Cuts & Tees, Alma’s Herbs, A Perfect 10 and the Atchison County Mail, along with fishing supplies from Perry’s Liquor & Tobacco, a Kindle Fire from Midwest Data, gloves from Do It Best, food from Food Country and a candle from Em’s Emporium.
This year’s $500 worth of Chamber Bucks was divided between four individuals. The winning tickets belonged to Betty Muntz – $250, Amanda Pinzino – $100, Trish Hendricks – $100 and Erika Daugherty – $50. Upstairs, while waiting for Santa to arrive, children of all ages were seen at “Santa’s Workshop” with the Beta Gals decorating cookies, making reindeer food, making ornaments for their trees or Christmas cards to send up to Pleasant View Nursing Home.
Once Santa arrived the kids were lined up ready to tell him their Christmas wishes which consisted of anything from a hamster to a Soggy Doggy game. As the last child said farewell to Santa, he packed up his bags and headed up to visit the residents at Pleasant View Nursing Home.
Kudos to everyone who made this event possible and the Rock Port Chamber is excited to see what 2018 brings.
