Another school year is in the books and we have kicked off an exciting summer school session. This year’s theme is “Game On” with 118 students enrolled in grades K-8. Summer school is a great opportunity for all students to participate in academic and community-based activities for three weeks in June.
Each year we budget a specific amount per child to spend on incentives and prizes for students to attend summer school. This year we wanted to take a different approach and support our local businesses that so generously support us throughout the year. The idea of Summer School Chamber Bucks came about.
Over the past couple weeks students have earned chamber bucks by meeting academic, behavior, and attendance goals during summer school. Last week students got an opportunity to spend their hard earned money at our local businesses. A big thank you to our local business owners for your kindness, flexibility, and generosity shown to our kids during the shopping trip. It was definitely a great day to be a Blue Jay!
Participating businesses were: A Perfect 10 Salon,  Food Country, Stoner Drug, Tropical Sno and Rock Port Do It Best.
