To celebrate National School Breakfast Week, Tarkio R-I Food Service Manager Marla Swaby passed out surveys to some of the students with the question of “What is your favorite breakfast?” Using the results of the survey, the March breakfast menu was made up of items listed on the survey. Mrs. Swaby stated that, “We are trying to promote breakfast as a healthy way to give your brain a good start each day!”
Studies show that eating a good breakfast helps students be more alert, have better concentration and memory, score higher on standardized tests, reach higher levels in achievement in reading and math, and maintain a healthy weight. They hope to encourage more families to take advantage of the healthy choices available for school breakfast.
