Soon the football stadium will be full of cheering fans for the jr. high East Atchison Wolves Football Team. With the season beginning September 6 at 5 p.m. at NorthWest Nodaway, the Wolves have been gearing up and honing those skills. This year’s team is coached by Cheyenne McClain and Jeremy Palmer.
Fourteen players are on the team this year. They have been working on everything at practice, from getting into shape, to tackling and blocking, to working on plays. Though this is a young team (there’s only one eighth grader), most have played youth football so they are more advanced than some who have come before them. Coach McClain said that though there’s not a lot of players, they are good quality players who pick things up quickly and work hard. He thinks that this will be a pretty successful season.
