Leave it to Clint Eastwood to bring us the first Oscar worthy movie of 2016. Starring Tom Hanks, Sully tells the true story of the “Miracle on the Hudson” when Captain “Sully” Sullenberger glided his disabled plane onto the frigid waters of the Hudson River, saving the lives of all 155 aboard. The movie isn’t just about the “forced water landing”, it is also about the investigation that followed, threatening to destroy Sully’s reputation and his career.
Though it is true that we already know the ending to this movie, it is the middle part that will keep you intrigued. Eastwood is fantastic in his ability to retell the story commingled with the official investigation into the events that unfolded that afternoon.
The build is a little slow, but don’t lose faith. It is a fantastic ride.
Stay in your seats through the credits for footage of all 155 survivors – you don’t want to miss it!
Sully is rated PG-13
