The Northwest Missouri Sportsman’s Club recently donated 120 practice rounds of trapshooting to the Fairfax FFA trap shooting team. This represents 3,000 clay targets the FFA team can use to learn gun safety and sharpen their shotgun shooting skills. Troy Cook, president, made the presentation to Fairfax FFA advisor Jeremy Palmer and team members.
The Fairfax team practices regularly at the Atchison County Shooting Sports range, located south of Rock Port and owned and operated by Wally Riebesell, along with the help of area shooters Jack Kruse and Tom Howard.
The Northwest Missouri Sportsman Club is dedicated to helping youth in the outdoors and recognizes the need for teaching area youth the shooting sports for recreation, competition and hunting.
The Sportsman Club holds an outdoor shooting and golf triathalon fundraiser each August, with all proceeds funding youth in the outdoors activities.
