What is one of the leading causes of death among men? If you said prostate cancer, you would be right. Prostate cancer can be deadly, but it doesn’t have to be. Early detection is the best defense, but there are no early symptoms. The best way to detect prostate cancer in its early stages is with regular prostate exams and prostate specific antigen (PSA) blood tests. Detection starts with a screening like the one offered by Community Hospital-Fairfax.
According to the American Cancer Society, prostate screening is recommended for all men age 50 or older, and for men age 40 or older with a family history of prostate cancer or risk factors. The free test only takes a few minutes and will be conducted by a physician.
CH-F will offer a prostate screening on October 12, 2016 in partnership with Krikor Partamian M.D. Appointments are available now by calling 660-686-2317. The exam is free and the PSA test is $15.
