The Commission met on Thursday, October 27, 2016, this being the 8th day of the regular October term. Present were: Presiding Commissioner Curtis Livengood; North District Commissioner David P. Chapin; South District Commissioner Richard Burke; and Susette Taylor, Clerk of the Commission.
Presiding Commissioner Curtis Livengood called the meeting to order.
Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved.
Bills were reviewed, approved and ordered paid.
The commission reviewed Circuit Clerk Lorie Hall’s request for the county to pick up the cost of the salary for an additional employee in her office due to supplemental grant funds running out. After a lot of discussion the commission agreed that this is a state office and the state should provide an adequate number of employees for the work load. The county has worked with the office on two other occasions to fill the gap with funds being paid back to the county from passport fees. Those fees have been depleted at this time therefore the commission has denied the request.
The commissioners then attended the Employee Fair being held at the Velma Houts building.
There being no further business to come before the commission, the commission adjourned.
