Gib Holmes, president of the Watson Community Outreach, had an idea back in 2002 to help people, especially kids. Because of this kind and big-hearted man, the Watson Community Outreach was formed. Over 140 families have been helped, not including the benefits that have been held. The idea of forming the Watson Community Outreach through the Watson Baptist Church, which was thought of so many years ago, has helped several children and older people get through some tough times.
To help Gib in his time of need, the Watson Community Outreach and the Rock Port Lions Club are joining together to hold a benefit for him. A benefit will be held Saturday, June 3, 2017, at 5 p.m. at the Atchison County Memorial Building in Rock Port. Dinner will be a free will donation. A raffle and auction will follow.
