The Rock Port Tourism Board met Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at Rock Port City Hall. Members present were Denton Melvin, Mike Farmer, Tami Lansdown, Chris Shimmel, Angela Mace, and Jody VanSickle. Also present were Tisha Jackson, Jill Lager, Alderwoman Lavon Paukert, and City Clerk Ashtin Paris.
The meeting agenda was approved.
Park Board members Tisha Jackson and Jill Lager were present to request sponsorship from the board for the Movie Night in the Park. In order to show the film in the park, a $275 public performance license fee must be obtained. The park board selected “The Sandlot” for the first Movie Night in the Park. Free will donations will be taken at the Movie Night in the Park to help fund future showings. The Rock Port Marlins Swim Team will provide concessions as a fundraiser.

Board members voted to approve the March 20, 2017, meeting minutes.
They also unanimously approved the March 2017 – May 2017 financials.
Officers were appointed as follows: Denton Melvin, chairman; Chris Shimmel, vice chairman; and Tami Lansdown, secretary/treasurer.
Events for the 4th of July were discussed. Denton Melvin will apply for the special event permit for the volleyball tournament. Holly Huntley and Tami Lansdown will be in charge of the volleyball tournament. Angela Mace and Tami Lansdown will be in charge of the Firework Fun Color Run.
Angela Mace moved to approve the Tons of Fun inflatables quote for two events in the amount of $3,900. Tami Lansdown seconded. Jody VanSickle, Denton Melvin, Tami Lansdown, and Angela Mace voted aye. Chris Shimmel abstained.
Due to time constraints, 2017 events, turbine park signage and improvements, and welcome sign landscaping were tabled.
The next meeting will be held Tuesday, June 27, 2017, at 5:30 p.m. at Rock Port City Hall.
