The Rock Port Senior Center’s fiscal year for 2018 started July 1. Due to cuts the federal and state governments have made to funding, they have to raise $40,000 to make the budget for next year. The community can help support the center by coming in and eating lunch. They stay open based on the number of people they serve and the government funding is also based on the number of people served. The more people who come to eat, the more funding they could receive in the following years.
To help with next year’s budget, the Rock Port Senior Center will be raffling off a quilt made by Rosita Stoner. Cost for tickets are $1 for 1 ticket or $5 for 6 tickets. The raffle will run from July 1, 2017, to July 30, 2017, with the drawing on July 31. If you have any questions, you may call Carmen Ellison at (660) 744-5812.
