Youth robotics enthusiasts attended a camp at Heartland Recreation Center Wednesday, August 9, 2017, to learn more about the Atchison County Robotics Club and to have fun with robots. The students (5th-8th graders) were provided with a computer to program robots for competitive tasks.  The campers were introduced to the challenges and fun of working with robots using STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) practices. While some students were busy programming robots on their computers with the help of Dale Dickkut, above right with Caleb Lucas and Reagan Walker, and Daniel Lesher above, others had fun manually putting the robots together. AJ Olauson, Ryder Proctor (both pictured above), and Riley Olauson enjoyed putting the pieces together. AJ called herself the technical engineer while her sister, Riley, discussed the importance of following the directions to make the robots function the way they should. These kids obviously knew what they were doing and had fun putting these robots together.
