Rock Port teachers throw balls at an “intruder” during the ALiCE Training held at the school. Attendees of the training were taught to immediately distract the intruder by throwing objects or running. Most intruders have the mindset that people will immediately try to cower and hide, so any resistance shown throws them off and increases the victims’ chances of survival.
Atchison County Deputy Devon Sons leads an ALiCE Training at the Fairfax R-3 School. Staff at all three Atchison County school districts received the specialized training, taught by officers of the Sheriff’s Department and Rock Port and Tarkio Police Departments. ALiCE training teaches techniques to take down and escape from an armed intruder in the workplace.
