On September 11, 2017, the local American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) met at the Tarkio Legion building at 5:30 p.m. The meeting was called to order and an opening prayer was given. The Pledge of Allegiance and then the Preamble were recited. Roll call was answered by six members. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved followed by the Treasurer’s report.
The membership report was given with the reminder to members to pay dues now. Reports from Department Convention and National Convention were given (see article in Atchison Co. Mail for September 14, 2017).
The District 4 meeting will be held September 16, 2017, in Burlington Junction. The Blue Star Ceremony will also be on September 16, 2017, at the Legion building in Tarkio for any members that can attend.
The Fall Rummage Sale has been set for October 13 and 14 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Legion building in Tarkio (Third and Broad streets). Good, saleable items will be accepted from October 2 through October 12 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Legion.
The community Turkey Dinner has been set for Sunday, November 5, 2017. The turkeys have been ordered and the calling tree lists will be reviewed and revised. Mark your calendars and come enjoy a traditional Thanksgiving meal with your American Legion and Legion Auxiliary.
There was no further business to come before the meeting so a closing prayer was given.
