The Rock Port first graders were “on the farm” during the 2017 harvest day.

On October 17, 2017, the school farm’s 7.3 acres of corn was harvested. It yielded 185 bpa. With the help of Dan Lucas from AgriVision, Trey Garst with Garst and Sons, Inc., and Ryan Meyerkorth with Pioneer, the harvest was very successful. Dave Alitz with Channel Seed and Wally Riebesell with MO Valley Ag helped with our spring inputs, also contributing to a successful harvest.
Many of the elementary classes were able to get outside in the beautiful weather and visit the farm to learn about the basics of harvesting and the importance of farming. Also the elementary students were able to check out the corn field, combine, and other machinery with the help of five Rock Port Chapter FFA officers.
