The East Atchison Wolves varsity basketball team had a great showing at the Northwest Missouri Basketball Tournament held this past week. Coming off the high from their overtime win against Rock Port on Friday, January 19, the boys started a new week at the tournament going strong.
The Wolves took charge against South Nodaway on Monday, January 22, winning by 15. That winning momentum carried them into Tuesday’s game against Nodaway-Holt, where the Wolves again defeated their opponent, this time by 25.
In the championship game on Saturday, the Wolves faced off with Worth County, an opponent East Atchison does not regularly compete against on the basketball court. The Wolves held their own going into the fourth quarter and had the lead, but a rash of continual Worth County possessions made successful by scoring put the Wolves behind by 10 and ended the game with an East Atchison loss. The boys head into their next week of play with an 11-9 overall record and a 6-2 275 Conference record.
