On Monday, February 22, the senior class of 1993 and photographer Cy Jones journeyed to Kirby Bridge to get a photo for the ’93 Guardian. The convoy of five vehicles turned onto a dirt road that became “a bit ticky.” Though the back four cars turned around, the front vehicle of Amy Slaughter, Lori Hughes, and Lisa Hughes continued on, getting stick in a ditch. They had to be pulled out by Richard Jones and Eric Bradfield. After the catastrophe, the kids still got their picture. Class members included Lane BreDahl, Eric Bradfield, Marla Pope, Jayne Graves, Heather Lawrence, Amy Slaughter, Toby Whittington, Lori Hughes, Lisa Hughes, Andy Slemp, and Kirsten Jones.

Burt Smith was named to the boys’ All-Conference 2nd team. Jeanette Swackhamer was named forward on All-Conference 2nd Team and Carolyn Davis, guard. Belinda Bolton received honorable mention as forward.
The regular monthly noon luncheon of the Fairfax Community Club will be held at Moody’s Cafe Friday, March 1. President Melvin Rogers urges all business people to make a special effort to attend. Every business should have a representative at this meeting.
March 5, 1943
Through an organized plan of the Farm Security Administration, the Employment Service and the Extension Service, farm workers and their families are being moved to Atchison County from surplus labor areas in south Missouri. Nine families were moved into the county last week.
Herschel Boyer, proprietor of Boyer’s Market, has leased the new business building that S.J. Peterson has erected on the old hotel lot and will move his stock of merchandise to the new location in about two weeks.
