The Fairfax R-3 School District held its 33rd annual Fairfax R-3 Academic Awards Banquet Wednesday, April 11, 2018, in the Fairfax Cafeteria. Fairfax K-12 Principal Dustin Barnes welcomed all in attendance before everyone enjoyed a delicious dinner. Mr. Barnes thanked each contributor for their donations to make this banquet the success that it is.
A musical presentation was made by the students. The mixed woodwind trio of Wyatt Burke, McKenzie Frohn, and Gena Mitchell performed with the accompaniment of Suzanne Southard. The saxophone trio of Tacy Mitchell, Shanna Gilpin, and Katy Baker also performed.
The speaker was Dr. Jeremy Burright, Fairfax R-3 Superintendent. Following Dr. Burright’s speech, Mr. Barnes and Counselor Marisa Hedlund presented awards. First year award recipients were Keevan Baker, Bennett Bowling, Trey Bowling, Wyatt Burke, Kilea Cooper, McKenzie Frohn, Jaycee Graves, Jesse Graves, Jaelynn Hill, and Morgan O’Riley. Second year award recipients were Katy Baker, Karrigan Bowling, Tyler Brown, Zach Garrison, Shanna Gilpin, Max Hopkins, Dylan Jeffords, Shelbey Morris, Jordan Sutter, Destany Theas, and Kinley Thornhill. Third year award receipients were Mickayla Bowling, Leslie Bradley, Andrew Gibbons, Conner Marshall, Tacy Mitchell, and Kwentin Roberts-Swinehart.
Leslie Bradley also recognized the new National Honor Society inductees. They include Kilea Cooper, Jesse Graves, Kinley Thornhill, Jaycee Graves, and Shanna Gilpin.
