On April 9, 2018, American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) met at the Legion building at 5:30 p.m. The meeting was called to order by President Linda Kaye and an opening prayer was given by Chaplain Judy. The Pledge of Allegiance and then the Preamble were recited by all members. Roll call was answered by 7 members. The minutes of the last meeting were read by our Secretary Barb and approved following correction/addition. The treasurer’s report was given by Treasurer Sheridan.
Communications were read and given to our Historian, Donna, for placement in our History Scrapbook. Reports were given on membership, County Government Day, and the Legion birthday breakfast.
Our Spring Rummage Sale has been set for April 27-28 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. We will be taking donations April 16-26 from 1-4 p.m.
We continue to work on tallying up our volunteer hours and money spent for veterans, active-duty military and their families and our service for youth plus miles driven in providing ALA service.
The Memorial Day lunch was discussed briefly and the menu and preparations to be finalized at our May meeting. The date to drape our charter has been set for June 11, 2018.
National Poppy Day is May 25, 2018. Our poppy order has arrived and will be handed out next meeting. Some of the members present selected their areas where they will be distributing the poppies.
There was no further business to come before the meeting so a closing prayer by Judy was given and the meeting was adjourned by Linda Kaye. The next meeting will be May 14, 2018, at 5:30 p.m.
