The Atchison County Sheriff’s Department (Deputy Devon Sons) recently talked to seniors at all three county schools about college safety. The students, who will be venturing off to college this summer and fall, learned about regularly using door locks, carrying emergency cash, situational awareness, self defense, safe partying, and sexual assault. College is supposed to be a safe place for learning, but as in any situation, there can be danger lurking. The Sheriff’s Department hoped to give the students the knowledge to make good decisions and stay safe.
