The May 1, 2018, meeting of the William White Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution was held at the Mound City Nutrition Site with nine members present. A common blessing was said by all before the meal.
The meeting was called to order by Susan Rippen. Members recited the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America. The national anthem was a recording by Kayla Toben, granddaughter of Karen Fischer, who had be chosen to sing the national anthem at the Show Me National Qualifier Volleyball Tournament at Bartle Hall in Kansas City.
A memorial service program was given by Karen Fischer, honoring deceased members, Sarah Messmer, daughter of member Marjorie Field and husband Gene. Sarah was born October 18, 1950 and passed away June 8, 2017. Also honored was Frances Scott, who was born December 6, 1924, and passed away July 28, 2017.
The DAR Ritual was completed by the members, reciting the American’s Creed, Preamble of Allegiance to the State of Missouri and Preamble to the Constitution of the United States of America.
A short devotion was given by Chaplain Karen Fischer on “What Is A Mother?”
Susan Rippen read the President General’s Message; 17 states were represented at the conference. The Constitution Minute was given by Ruth Rother, the Indian Minute was given by Carolyn Fansher, the Conservation Minute was given by Karen Fischer, and Women’s Issues by Marjorie Field.
Recording Secretary, Janice Phelps, read the April 3 minutes. Treasurer Susan Rippen gave the treasurer’s report.
Susan Rippen gave a report on the state conference in Kansas City. Susan, Annamarie and Ruth attended the meeting.
Susan Rippen adjourned the meeting after all old and new business was discussed.
