The TEC Club met Tuesday, May 10, 2018, at Aunt Martha’s B&B. Debbie Johnson and Sharon Smith substituted on another glorious spring day. Merylan Lowery was hostess, and as we walked in we were welcomed by a strawberry torte in an elegant footed crystal bowl setting on the cabinet. I was immediately ready for dessert, but games first, I was told. Debbie Johnson won high score, Martha Shaffer, second high, and Mary Anne Pennel, low.
Finally, it was dessert time. The table was set with May baskets filled with flowers and candy, and that big bowl of torte was the centerpiece. We reminisced about May Day and how we celebrated it in the past. I had to go to Google to find out more about the workers’ struggles associated with May Day, but I like the old idea of secretly hanging little baskets of flowers and candy on friends’ doors. Grandbabies became the next item of discussion with announcements of new ones on the way. Everyone lingered wanting to extend the good news and laughter, but it was nice to walk out into the 80 degree afternoon.
