Submitted by Linda Kaye Payton, President of Unit 199
On May 14, 2018, the American Legion Auxiliary (ALA) met at the Legion building at 5:30 p.m. The meeting was called to order by President Linda Kaye and an opening prayer was given by Chaplain Judy. The Pledge of Allegiance and then the Preamble were recited by all members. Six members were present. The minutes of the last meeting were read by our Secretary Barb and approved following correction/addition. The Treasurer’s report was given by Treasurer Sheridan.
District 4 meeting will be June 2, 2018, and will be at the Oregon Methodist Church. We will have our memorial service. Please let Linda Kaye or Sheridan know if you plan to go by May 23, 2018.
Report on membership was not available. Hazel gave the report on another successful Rummage Sale. Thank you to all members able to help sort, fold, arrange all the donations and a BIG THANK YOU to those that helped to deliver to DAV in St. Joseph what we didn’t sell!
The Memorial Day lunch has been set for May 28, 2018. The luncheon will be served when the Legion and ALA members return from providing the services at area cemeteries.
The date to drape our Charter has been set for June 11, 2018.
National Poppy Day is May 25, 2018. Poppies were handed out and groups of two choose their spots to distribute them. Please support our veterans by wearing a poppy.
There was no further business to come before the meeting so a closing prayer by Judy was given and meeting adjourned by Linda Kaye. The next meeting will be June 11, 2018, at 5:30 p.m.
