The Piecemakers Quilt Guild met May 15, 2018, at the Fairfax Community Room. Our May 1 meeting had been postponed because of stormy weather.
Our decorations were of the Western Prairie Days: butter churns, oil lamps, cast-iron cookware, etc.
We were hosting the Crazy Quilters from Maryville area. We answered our roll call by everyone telling the names of their favorite western movies.
After Sara returned thanks, we “dished up our beans, cornbread, biscuits and fried apples.” We also had lots of side dishes and of course desserts, including lemonade pie (one of my favorites.)
Donna R. asked trivia questions about “the good old western movies and t.v. westerns” and these ladies knew their westerns!
Then of course we had Show and Tell: Dresden Plate, Log Cabin and Courthouse Steps wall hangings, Flying Geese, Log Cabin Fly Away, Black/White with one-inch pieces, Blocks of Bible, antique quilt, Kaleidoscope, a colorful Angela Walter’s pattern and of course Susan’s Sanctuary quilt in progress. All were beautiful and there is a great deal of piecing in each one.
For our game time these “wild and crazy ladies,” about 30 of them, made rag dolls from strips of torn fabric.
It was really a fun-filled evening as always with the Crazy Quilters.
The next meeting of the Piecemakers will be June 5 at the Fairfax Park. This will be our election of officers meeting before starting a new year in July.
