Dalton Brake and Catyn Chamberlain were named Top Male and Female Senior Athletes for the Class of 2018 during the Spring Sports Banquet on May 24, 2018.

 

This year the Rock Port Spring Athletic Banquet was held on Thursday, May 24, 2018, to honor our high school athletes who participated in spring sports. Rock Port Schools Superintendent Mr. Ethan Sickels welcomed everyone and junior Riley Vogler gave the invocation.  Those in attendance contributed to the meal that is always loaded with favorites. After dinner Boys Golf Coach Shawn Shineman gave recognition to the boys on the golf team and the season they’ve had this year. He remarked on Ethan Brumbaugh going to sectional golf for a second year and he  especially recognized Jase Hughes for his 3rd place finish at Sectionals and qualifying for the state tournament again this year.
Coach Jan Burke presented the high school girls track awards. Rachel Jenkins  was assistant coach. Several team members also competed in the Missouri Class 1 State High School Athletic Association Track & Field Meet held at Jefferson City High School, on Friday, May 18, and Saturday, May 19.  Abbie Hale ran the 300 hurdles in a time of 46.88 at the District track meet.  She broke the previous time of 47.19 set by Megan Stevens at the 2017 State Track meet.  Abbie then broke her own record with a time of 46.59, raising the bar higher for the future Blue Jay 300 meter hurdlers. Abbie Hale and Catyn Chamberlain were recognized as a team captains.  Abbie Hale received the 2018 MVP award. The Rock Port 4×100 meter relay team finished fifth with a time of  53.63. Members included Marisa Carder, Rachel Vogler, Makenna Farmer and Abbie Hale. The Rock Port 4×200 meter relay team also placed fifth with a time of 1:50.94. Members included Marisa Carder, Riley Vogler, Makenna Farmer and Abbie Hale. The Rock Port 4×400 meter relay team placed third with a time of 4:16.19. Members included Riley Vogler, Rachel Vogler, Makenna Farmer and Abbie Hale. The girls who placed at State were given RPHS State Placer medals including Marisa Carder, Makenna Farmer, Riley Vogler, Rachel Vogler and Abbie Hale. Makenna Farmer received the Most Promising Freshman award.
Coach Donnie Parsons was up next with awards for the  2018 Rock Port boys track team.  Richard Fentiman was assistant coach. Dalton Stevens was recognized for his eighth place discus throw of 129’4″ at the Missouri Class 1 State High School Athletic Association Track & Field Meet held at Jefferson City High School, on Friday, May 18, and Saturday, May 19. This was also a new personal record for Dalton. He  received the 2018 MVP award. Joey Herron received the Most Promising Freshman award.
Mr. Sickels presented the last award of the evening, the Top Rock Port Female and Male Senior Athlete of the 2018 Class. Catyn Chamberlain  and Dalton Brake received these honors.
