The Atchison County Fair is now underway! The festivities began Saturday, July 14, 2018, with a horse show at the rodeo grounds in Tarkio, and continued Monday with the 4-H Achievement Day at the Velma Houts Fair Building in Rock Port. Activities continue Tuesday through Friday with home arts and horticulture exhibits, ag mechanics and field crop exhibits, livestock shows, and an auction at the fairgrounds and Velma Houts building in Rock Port. Saturday’s fun begins with the Fair Parade at 10 a.m. on Main Street in Rock Port (parade registration begins at 9:30 a.m. on the west side of the Rock Port School). Lunch is available at the fairgrounds from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with Family Fun Day activities beginning at 11 a.m. Activities include Mutton Bustin’ at 11 a.m., Greased Pig contest at 11:30 a.m., Pedal Tractor Pull at 12 noon, and a Garden Tractor Pull at 1 p.m.

7 a.m. – 9 a.m. – Open for breakfast, lunch & dinner 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. – Velma Houts Fair Building open for viewing of exhibits.
9:30 a.m. – SWINE SHOW – Pee-wee swine show; breeding swine show; market swine show immediately following breeding swine; swine showmanship classes conclude the swine show.
6:30 p.m. – SHEEP SHOW & GOAT SHOW – Pee-wee sheep & Goat show; breeding Sheep & Goat show; market Sheep & Goat show starts 15 minutes after breeding show; showmanship concludes the show.
Friday, July 20
7 a.m.- 2 p.m. – Open for breakfast & lunch
9 a.m. – BEEF SHOW – Pee-wee beef show; bucket calf show; breeding beef show; feeder calf show; market beef show starts 15-30 minutes after feeder calf show; showmanship concludes beef show.
9 a.m – 6 p.m. – Velma Houts Fair Building open for viewing of exhibits.
11:30 a.m. – POULTRY SHOW & RABBIT SHOW- (or later depending on when beef show ends)
5 p.m. – Pre-auction supper.
6 p.m. – AUCTION.
6-8 p.m. – Release all exhibits.
