Tarkio/Westboro/Fairfax Food Pantry board met Tuesday, July 10, 2018, with 8 members present. Churches represented at the meeting were Tarkio Christian, Tarkio Presbyterian, Fairfax Baptist, Fairfax Presbyterian, St. John’s Lutheran and Westboro Methodist. In May, 114 individuals were served representing 51 families. In June, 112 individuals representing 52 families were assisted.
Anita Sutter attended the mandated agency’s training session in St. Joseph on May 30. She presented information from that meeting as well as conducted the required Civil Rights training for the board.
Items that are needed at the food pantry include peanut butter, jelly, soup, pasta and canned fruits and vegetables. Although donations of food are always appreciated, cash donations allow the needed items to be purchased. The board is most appreciative of all donations as well as the efforts of the many volunteers that make this ministry possible.
St. John’s Lutheran Church will be responsible for opening the food pantry in July. In August the Tarkio Presbyterian Church will open the food pantry. The food pantry is open Tuesdays and Thursdays on the third and fourth weeks of each month from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The food pantry is also open the third Tuesday of each month in the evening from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. The next meeting of the food pantry board will be Tuesday, September 11, 2018, at 9:30 a.m. The food pantry is located at 415 Main Street in Tarkio.
