The Piecemakers Quilt Guild met July 10 at Community Hospital-Fairfax in Fairfax with 12 members present.
Bev opened the meeting and roll call was answered with each telling a “special binding” they had done.
Jean read the secretary’s report and it was approved. Karen gave the treasurer’s report and it was approved.
Our program was given by Verna Young on how to do bias binding. It was an interesting program and she had some samples for us to try out.
Shirley read a thank you note from the Maryville Crazy Quilters.
Karen and Bev had already sold some tickets for the Christmas Quilt our Guild made. We each took some tickets and are well on our way. We will have it on display soon and will draw a winning name November 6 – in time for Christmas. We will have more information about where to purchase tickets next month. As of now any member can get tickets for you.
Susan won the fat quarters this month.
We discussed the Friendship Quilt that everyone is working on. Each member is making a star block of their choice for each member and we will distribute them at our December meeting.
Several of the “enthusiastic gals” had some items for Show and Tell. Susan is making appliqued Christmas stockings for her little ones. Rosita had a “Pocket Quilt” with denim pockets and some four-square plus blocks added as every other block. Donna H. had a black and white quilt with a little touch of purple to really set it off. Sara had a “Hole in the Wall” quilt. We had learned to make that block earlier in the year. Shirley had a “quilt in progress” to show. Donna H. also had some travel pillows and pillowcases to show.
The next meeting will be August 7 at Community Hospital-Fairfax at 7 p.m. Our program will be Crazy Quilt along with Bev. (We should be able to handle that without a problem.)
