The Watson Fire Department’s 2nd annual fishing tournament turned out 32 eager fishermen. Seth Gaines, our local legendary fisherman, topped the gang with a 32 pound channel cat. Second place went to Pat Hickey with a 26 pound blue cat, and third place was Erik Radik with a 14 pound channel cat.
The Watson Fire Department’s fish fry was a huge success with over 100 people attending. They had an age range from 94 years old to 6 days old. Also there was a guest who drove 1,000 miles and came from New Orleans. Everyone enjoyed that meal. The Watson Fire Department would like to thank all those who brought food, helped serve, helped cook, and helped clean up.
The Watson Quilters met Thursday night with Donna Whelan, Frances Nahkunst, Fran Phillips, Tammy Oakes, Kathy Sloop, Linda Viets, Holly Holmes, Anita Armstrong, and Kay Gibson attending. Holly had put the borders on the cancer quilt and brought it for our quilter to quilt it. It was a huge, beautiful quilt.
The Quilters also made a little table topper for Frances Nahkunst, who is our ripper. It was a self portrait of Frances and said “Rip Itty Do Dah.” Many thanks to our local artist, Scott Holmes, for sketching Frances for us.
The Watson Methodist Church was blessed with music from the Apple Corps Barbershop group Sunday morning.
