Certified martial arts instructor Eric Bressler works with two of his students during his Hapkido class on Monday, January 14, 2019.

Eric Bressler’s 13 years of martial arts training will now benefit those in Atchison County looking to learn more about the art. He opened Bressler’s Academy of Martial Arts in January, offering classes on Mondays and Thursdays at Cedar Bluff Lodge in Rock Port.

Eric is a 4th degree Black Belt, Certified Instructor and studied at Duvall’s Academy in Maryville.

He teaches Hapkido, a traditional form of Korean Martial Arts. This style is a self-defense art with curriculum focused on kicks, hand strikes, joint locks, chocks, throws and more.

Eric recommends martial arts to people of all ages, but says this class is geared specifically toward teens and adults. Children are welcome, but encouraged to come with an older sibling or adult.

Hapkido has many benefits, including fitness, focus, discipline and self confidence for all ages. For adults, it can be particularly beneficial for those needing to regain/maintain flexibility or mobility.

If you would like to learn more about the classes, find Bressler’s Academy of Martial Arts on Facebook or call Eric to get a name on the list. He can be reached at 660-744-6679 or 660-254-4368. He invites anyone interested to come view a class at Cedar Bluff Lodge on Mondays or Thursdays from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. Currently, there is one class running. If there is enough interest, he will expand the number of classes available.

Eric Bressler, a Rock Port native, is a 2000 graduate of Rock Port High School. He and his wife, Rebecca, also a 2000 RPHS graduate, live in Rock Port and are owners of Hometown Comfort Crew, located on Main Street.
