For one Fairfax 11 year-old, “paying it forward” is a way of life. Austin Helfers recently sold some toys, clothing, and other items on local swap and shops. He decided to use some of that money to pay it forward and donate in some way to an individual or an organization in need. When his mother, Lori Helfers, saw a plea for donations for Wounded Warriors Guide Service, Austin knew that this was the right choice. So, he purchased plates, napkins, and silverware for the hunters to use, and donated those items, as well as cash. To say thank you, a Minnesota National Guard serviceman sent him some military gear. Austin is not done yet, as he still has plans to keep raising money and finding others in need. (Photo submitted by Lori Helfers)
