The residents of Pleasant View enjoyed celebrating Skilled Nursing Care Week with several fun and tasty activities. This year’s theme was “Live Soulfully.” How are you contributing to your happiness and the happiness of others?
Pleasant View hosted Muffins with Mom during the morning and handed out carnations to all the mothers on Sunday, May 12, Mothers Day.
Monday, Teena Taylor made comforting chicken noodle soup and read from “Chicken Soup for the Golden Soul.” In the afternoon Brett from Hospice Partners hosted “Wheel Of Fortune” followed by a balloon launch and homemade ice cream.
Tuesday, the residents had 30 minutes to see how many words they could make using letters from the phrase “Happy Minds, Healthy Souls.” They came up with 124 words. Tuesday afternoon is Bingo at Pleasant View, which always makes residents happy!
Wednesday the Pleasant View dietary team fixed fried catfish, macaroni and cheese, cornbread and sweet potato pie. Teena served black-eyed peas and collard greens family style to round out the soul food menu. In the afternoon the community was invited to bring their pets for a visit. Seven dogs, two cats, and a baby sheep visited the nursing home. The residents appreciate all who came and visited.
Thursday afternoon was rhubarb dessert day. Teena and Alicia served rhubarb sauce over white cake and strawberry rhubarb slab pie a la mode. It sure was yummy!
Friday morning was “Express Yourself with Art.” Some residents painted on canvas while others painted rocks which is all the craze right now.
Friday afternoon residents, staff and visitors were treated to the talents of Lynn Hunter, Malisa Linthicum, Deb Johnson and Debra Wyatt. These ladies bring so much each time they come to perform and it’s greatly enjoyed by all.
