The Rock Port Park Board met Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at 7:00 p.m. at Rock Port City Hall. Members present were Jill Lager, Tisha Jackson, Tawni Ellis, Shauna Farmer, Katy Kroeger, Sheena Roup, and Devon Sons. Lisa Farmer was absent. Also present was Emily Schulte, City Clerk.
Jill Lager called the meeting to order. Board members voted to approve the meeting agenda.
They also voted to approve the March 18 and June 10, 2019, meeting minutes, and the June 2019 financials.
Katey Kroeger looked into companies to go through to sell the tractor and suggested Big Iron would be our best bet. Board members voted to contact Big Iron to sell the park tractor and finishing mower.
It was decided to post the old refrigerator for free on Facebook for pick-up.
Clint Dougherty is interested in filling the empty position. He will fill out an application with city hall.
Pool and
Park Updates
The board talked about pool closing policy and procedure due to low attendance. Substitute guards will be needed to fill some low days coming up. Large inflatables being brought into the pool were also discussed.
Board members voted to approve Abby Bradley, Jackie Bradley, Dayle Davis, and Mackenzie Lager as substitute guards at the beginning guard rate.
Other Business
Board members voted to approve the discussed wages for the 2019 pool staff.
The May 1, 2013, decision to pay new guards current minimum wage was discussed. The board members voted to suspend new lifeguards starting at the current minimum wage for the 2019 season. Katy Kroeger seconded.
The 2012 decision to give a 25¢ raise to all returning guards was discussed. This was suspended for the 2019 season, and and a 10¢ raise was approved instead.
The Park Board donating pool passes to the MAP Incentive Committee was discussed. The Park Board voted to donate two single pool passes to the MAP Incentive Committee. The recipients will have the option of upgrading and paying the difference towards a family pass.
The next meeting will be held July 22, 2019, at 7:00 p.m.
