The Atchison County Commission met Thursday, August 1, 2019. Present were: Presiding Commissioner Curtis Livengood, South District Commissioner Richard Burke, North District Commissioner Jim Quimby, and Susette Taylor, Clerk of the Commission.

Minutes of the previous meeting were read and approved. Bills were reviewed and approved.

The commission met with Emergency Management Director Rhonda Wiley and Prosecuting Attorney Brett Hurst at 10:00 a.m. to discuss information about proceeding with filing documents against the railroad for violation of the Atchison County Flood Plain Ordinance and sending notification to the EPA and the Army Corps of Engineers that they were in violation of their 404 permit. Attorney Hurst stated he would need a copy of the Flood Plain Ordinance in order to proceed. Director Wiley agreed to forward him the necessary information and contacts.

Adam Meyer was in to discuss road and bridge matters. He notified the commission that long time employee and currently part-time grader operator Larry Moses had passed away. The commission expressed their condolences and approved a memorial to be sent on behalf of the county.
