Missouri is going to have its first open deer season in seven years during November. The state conservation commission has announced Friday and Saturday, November 3 and 4, as the two days when deer may be killed in this state. The dates had been previously set as November 4 and 5, but were changed to avoid Sunday hunting.

A fog which blanketed this section Tuesday night and continued into Wednesday morning was so heavy that two Rock Porters who had been to Tarkio and were returning in the early hours of Wednesday morning reported it took two hours to make the nine-mile trip. They had to proceed with such caution that their car merely crept along.

August 21, 1969

The mobile home and mobile home park business is booming in the Rock Port area to such an extent that both the mobile home parks in the vicinity of Rock Port are doubling their size and others are considering opening mobile home units.  Prices of mobile homes range from $4,000 to $12,000 with the average price in 1967 running around $5,700 for a 12’x60′ trailer or about $8 per square foot depending on the furnishing and equipment.

Rock Port Mobile Homes Inc., began operation about 1/2 mile west of Rock Port in October, 1968. Incorporators were William Corken, Luther Thompson, J.R. Bailey and George Beasing.

Miss Lyn Muir, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Muir, East Northport, New York, and Barry Simmons, son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Simmons, Fairfax, were married Saturday, July 9, at the First Christian Church in Fairfax, Missouri.Reverend Allan Bash officiated at the double ring ceremony.

The 1994 Blue Jay Girls’ Golf season is underway with seven young ladies, Susan Batschelet, Loralei Hess, Patti Gubser, Jill Lewis, Angela Deatz, Brandi Owen and Kari Beth McMahon, reporting to new golf coach Steve Sayer.

Showing at the Pioneer 3 Theatre, Nebraska City, Nebraska, are the following movies: “Clear and Present Danger,” “Camp Nowhere,” and “Little Rascals.”

The 9th Annual Operation Jason Fishing Derby will be held Saturday, September 24, 8:00 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Langdon Bend Boat Dock.
