The Tarkio/Westboro/Fairfax Food Pantry in Tarkio held an open house/dedication ceremony Sunday, September 29, 2019, at the new location (formerly the Sodbusters building) at 315 Main Street. Around 60 people attended the event, including Herb Sutter and Janice Pierce, pictured above.

There was a full house on hand to celebrate the miraculous turn of events that saw the food pantry move from a building quickly deteriorating to a building in great shape that was donated by the Harringtons who own Sodbusters Service Co. Besides the building being donated, the new flooring was also donated, as well as local community members and students volunteering their time to prepare the new food pantry location for its over 50 families, the equivalent of around 130 clients.

Anita Sutter, left, was recognized for her dedication to successfully seeing to the endeavor of moving the food pantry to a new location. Pat Whitham, right, was honored for her years of service to the food pantry as she retires from her duties as food purchaser.
