The Atchison County Development Corporation (ACDC) board meeting was held October 9, 2019. Present were: Lori Seymour, Craig Corken, W.C. Farmer, Bob Alldredge, and Eryn Stepp, board members; Monica Bailey, director; and Carol Clark, assistant.

The minutes were approved as presented.

Financials: Farmers State Bank CD #67000665 matures on October 13, 2019, and will be renewed for seven months at 2.01%. The financials were approved as presented.

Director’s Report

This year’s annual meeting was a success, with around 110 people attending.

Careers on Wheels for Freshmen was held Friday, September 27, with 14 businesses and organizations and over 50 students participating.

Bailey gave an overview of Community Enrichment Funds (spent and allotted) for 2019, including three additional $500 Youth Community Beautification Grants for a total of $3,000 on the 2019-2020 program.

The USDA-Rural Development Community Facilities program has received flood relief funding. ACDC is working to connect our local contact with eligible groups that may benefit from loans or grants through that program.

New Business

A nonprofit support request from the Rock Port Senior Center was reviewed. Board members approved a contribution of $1,000 toward their unexpected repairs.

The 2020 Business Improvement Grant program was discussed. Board members voted that ACDC offer 10 Basic (50/50 reimbursable matching) grants at a maximum of $1,000 each.
