October 20, 1944

• The fifth and sixth grades enjoyed some moving pictures, shown by Jerome True, on Tuesday morning. Some of the pictures concerned the discovery of America and others were about our science units.

• Members of the Christian Church have collected and sent to the United Nations relief organization 40 pounds of used clothing to be sent to occupied countries of Europe for use of the needy population.

• Some half-dozen of the approximately 250 servicemen’s ballots that have been returned to Atchison County have been opened by censors. The opening of such ballots, even by censors, is prohibited by law, but evidently some censors do not know of the regulations.

October 23, 1969

• Miss Suzanne Davis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Oral Davis, was crowned homecoming queen of Fairfax High School Friday night, October 17.

• Mrs. Wm. D. Umbarger received a check for $25 and had one of her favorite recipes printed in the October issue of Better Homes and Gardens. The recipe used was from Mrs. Umbarger’s turkey dish.

October 20, 1994

• The Fairfax Marching Bulldogs won first place in their class at the homecoming parade in Maryville, Missouri, Saturday morning. They marched in the rain and as the parade ended for the Fairfax group, the rain stopped. This is the second year in a row the Fairfax Marching Bullodogs have placed first in this competition. The Fairfax Flag Corps also placed first in their competition.

• Ryan Oswald, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Oswald, was crowned Fairfax homecoming king and Tiff Sly, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Sly, was crowned queen at the football game Friday night.
