Holt County’s State Bicentennial Committee has scheduled a presentation to honor Holt County’s World War I veterans.
“Salute to Holt County Veterans” will pay homage to Holt County veterans of World War I, with special focus on Company L, a unit comprised almost entirely of Holt County men. This program will provide historical information about the part that Holt County men and women have played in war and peace-keeping efforts on the part of the State of Missouri and the United States as a whole.
The program, which is endorsed by the Missouri State Bicentennial Committee and State Historical Society of Missouri, is open to the public and will be presented immediately following the Holt County Missouri Historical Society’s annual meeting, held Sunday, November 3, at 2:00 p.m., at the Holt County Courthouse in Oregon, Missouri. Anyone who has World War I memorabilia is encouraged to bring it to display. There is no charge for this program, but donations will be gratefully accepted; donations received will be used to help purchase a case to display the Bicentennial quilt in the courthouse and fund future Bicentennial events.
